The Cost Control 01 Workshop is designed to equip professionals with the essential knowledge and tools required for effective cost management in projects. The workshop starts with an introduction to cost control and cost management processes, explaining the importance of estimation, budgeting, and financial control. Participants will explore key topics such as direct and indirect cost structures, fixed and variable costs, cost vs. price, margin vs. markup, and the role of cost engineers versus finance professionals.
A deep dive into estimation and budgeting follows, with a structured roadmap guiding professionals on how to effectively forecast project costs and manage budgets. Participants will also learn about cost control roadmaps, earned value management (EVM), and practical EVM examples to help them understand performance measurement techniques.
The workshop includes hands-on exercises, starting with the documentation required for cost control, estimation sheets, cost control templates for both direct and indirect costs, and the organization of cost control folders. Discussions will allow participants to apply theoretical knowledge to real-world scenarios.
Further, participants will explore financial reporting tools such as work performed invoices (internal and client), actual cost tracking (inventory sheets), subcontractor invoices, daily wages, petty cash, and balance sheets. They will also gain insights into managing project variations, ensuring they can adapt to cost fluctuations effectively.
To reinforce learning, the workshop includes review tasks and discussions after each major module. Participants will also be introduced to advanced cost control tools like Candy CCS and ERP systems, providing them with modern solutions for cost management and project control.
This workshop is ideal for cost engineers, project managers, finance professionals, and anyone involved in project cost estimation and control. Through theoretical knowledge, practical exercises, and real-world case studies, attendees will gain a solid foundation in cost control principles and applications.
